Recognizing that during this time of economic crisis many neighbors may be having a difficult time meeting their basic needs, volunteers at St. Cecilia’s parish recently opened an emergency food pantry – Gifts of Love – as a means of offering a few days sustenance to those who are unable to stretch their funds. The parishioners, who support the pantry with groceries, are especially concerned for the working poor, the unemployed, and persons who are disabled and on fixed incomes.
The pantry is located in the Convent at 21 Monitor Street and is open on alternating Tuesday and Saturday mornings. Anyone who has a need or wishes to donate can contact the parish office at (718) 389-0010 for more information.
