Revving Engines in the Rain

Vintage Motorcycle Show Could Not Be Stopped!

Despite the sporadic downpours that torrentially pelted Greenpoint on Saturday afternoon, the 7th annual Vintage Motorcycle Show rallied on, boasting a plethora of beer, bbq and, of course, bikes of all shapes, sizes, varieties and vintages.
This year’s show was called Holeshot—each year the block party carries a different moniker: Brand X in 2009, Detonation in 2008, and so on—and was a collaborative effort between Erik Green, owner and proprietor of Williamsburg’s Works Engineering on N. 14th Street, and Hidetaka Takasaki of Astoria-based motorcycle shop Peak-Point. The two have been working together to put on the Vintage Motorcycle Show for the past four years, where it has taken place in North Brooklyn, just outside of Works Engineering. The previous shows were in Queens and Manhattan, and were solely the fruits of Takasaki’s labor.
“We want to foster the vintage bike scene, and bring people together,” Green said. “There aren’t too many places in the city where you can see all these cool vintage bikes.”
