Picnic Time at Sunken Meadow!

On Thursday afternoon, the Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council hosted its 38th annual senior picnic at Sunken Meadow State Park on Long Island. In addition to the 4,000 seniors the event attracted, some of the borough’s, the City’s and even the state’s political heavy-hitters turned out in droves to spend an afternoon in the sun. Governor David Paterson, Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Borough President Marty Markowitz, and Public Advocate Bill de Blasio were among the most distinguished attendees, all of whom jumped at the chance to congratulate Assemblyman Vito Lopez—the event’s organizer and champion—on yet another job well done.
