Glamour in Greenpoint: Fashion's Night Out

Fashion week. That one week every six months or so that turns New York City into a veritable billboard. Models, designers and celebrities recklessly roam the streets, hopping from tent to tent, gallery to club, party to after-party to after-after party. And while Bryant Park is considered to be ground zero for all major fashion week operations, last Thursday designers, boutiques and retailers in all five boroughs opened their doors to fashionistas across the city, anxious to participate in the fashion festivities of the fourth-ever New York City Fashion’s Night Out.

Sponsored by American Vogue, NYC & Company, the City of New York and the Council of Fashion Designers in America, Fashion’s Night Out featured over 700 retailers, who kept their shops open late into the night, offering patrons and passersby complimentary libations, gift bags, giveaways and major discounts in an effort to, not only democratize fashion, but to stimulate the economy by inspiring New Yorkers to shop.

Our very own Greenpoint was no exception. Franklin Avenue, among other consumer hot spots, was buzzing with activity, where boutiques Alter and Dalaga, and antique shop Kill Devil Hill all stayed open after hours, serving their guests wine, champagne and gin punch. Williasmburg was also all a twitter, as expected, boasting parties, major sales and special one-time only pop-up clothing shops, from the vintage variety to the ultra-chic.
