Manhattan Avenue Robbery

A 38-year-old’s Manhattan Avenue apartment was robbed when he left for work in the morning on May 6, according to police.

The victim told police that he left for work at about 7:30 a.m. and when he returned home at 5:30 p.m. he discovered that his door was unlocked and the doorframe had been damaged.

Upon entering the apartment he discovered that his Macbook, checkbooks and speakers had been stolen.

There are two entrances to the building – one which is permanently locked, and another that remains closed but unlocked and police suspect it was used by the still unknown suspect to gain entry into the building.

Gas Company Scam

A 76-year-old man was robbed by two men claiming to be employees of a gas company, according to police.

The victim received one of the scam artists at his apartment on May 8th just after 5:30 p.m.

Upon entering the apartment the conman asked the victim to escort him to the basement to check the gas pipes.

The victim told police that he heard a second individual upstairs who the perp said was one of his associates.

The perp then went upstairs to join his accomplice, asking the victim to wait downstairs, and telling him he was consulting with his associate.

When the victim returned to his apartment a few minutes later – both men had disappeared, taking $250 from the apartment with them.

Bar Phone Grab

A burglar snatched a woman’s phone inside of a bar on Manhattan Avenue last week, according to police.

The woman told police that the man approached her at the bar whereupon the duo began a 20-minute long conversation at the end of which the man pretended to bump into the victim and grabbed her phone in the process.

The victim reported the incident to the 94th precinct and with the help of the officers and “Find My iPhone” app, the authorities were able to arrest the suspect who was trying to exchange the phone at a store on Graham Avenue.

Dangerous Hook-Up

A 52-year-old man was hit on the head by a guy he picked up at a Williamsburg bar, according to police.

On May 5th, just after 4 a.m., the victim walked out of the bar along with the perp and walked to a nearby bodega to grab a bottle of wine.

The victim then took the suspect back to his apartment where a few hours later the perp smashed the wine bottle on the victim’s head and made off with his laptop.

Police are continuing to investigate the matter.

Driving Assault

A 29-year-old was assaulted on May 7th around 12:30 p.m. while he was driving his car on Bedford Avenue, according to police.

The victim told police that an unknown man intentionally smashed his driver’s side window with a broom.

The perp then broke the broom in two pieces and attacked the victim with the broken pieces causing the victim laceration and redness on his forearm.

Police are continuing to investigate the crime.
