Down to Earth Markets announced, this week, that it will move the McGolrick Park Farmers Market indoors for the winter, to the Lutheran Church of the Messiah, directly across the street from its warm weather site. Opening day at the new site is Sunday, January 5th. The market will return every Sunday, operating from 11AM – 4PM.
“With this move, a neighborhood collaboration begins,” said Down to Earth Director of Marketing and Community Relations Frankie Rowland. “The community has embraced this market, and now, with the church, we’re able to provide it all year round.”
For Pastor Amy Kienzle, the move fosters her goal of opening the church more to the community. “One of the things we value is connecting with people in a positive way,” she said. “The church has been here for over 100 years and we want to reinvigorate our relationships in the community, especially in supporting all the great things already underway, like the Farmers Market.”
Several favorite vendors are confirmed for McGolrick’s Winter Farmers Market, including American Pride Seafood, Horman’s Best Pickles, Orwashers Bakery, Pie Lady & Son, Stone & Thistle Farm (Pasture-raised meat and poultry), Tierra Farm (locally roasted nuts and coffee) and MOMO Dressing. Two new vendors, Jersey Farm Produce and Migliorelli Farm will bring fresh greenhouse greens and field root vegetables.
The market will move back outside, to its McGolrick Park location, this spring. Updates, including events, cooking demos and new vendors are available at www.downtoearthmarkets.com.
