Don’t let the company’s name fool you—Baked in Brooklyn isn’t another foodie joint. Baking is done here, but it’s done in a kiln, not a traditional oven. According to owner Ashley Newman, “Baked in Brooklyn is a paint-your-own pottery and craft studio offering creative activities for kids of all ages. Drop-ins are always welcome, and we offer birthday parties, kids and adult clay classes, and a host of special events for any occasion.” During the summer, Baked in Brooklyn offers an Arts & Crafts Summer Camp and a Kids’ Clay Class.
The two-week camp will feature paper arts, ceramic painting, sculpture, mosaics, beading, and more. Each day, campers work on one project they can take home, and one project they will continue working on.
Kids’ Clay Class
What kid doesn’t like getting messy and working with wet clay? This class allows kids to expand their creativity and create a work of art they can take home with them. Children can learn hand-building techniques with ceramic artist Dani Sigler. They’ll work on everything from pinch & coil pots to functional and sculptural items. The clay classes take play on Wednesdays at 4pm, and are for children 6 years and up.
Drop Ins & Parties
Walk in, have your child choose a ceramic piece, and start painting! Baked in Brooklyn provides over 100 pieces, including mugs, plates, piggy banks and more. They also offer a wide selection of tools, stencils, and paint to help your child create their unique piece. The piece is fired in about a week, then ready to be picked up and taken home!
Baked in Brooklyn isn’t only for the kids. They also offer BYOB ‘clay-dates’ for the grown-ups. Grab yourself a bottle of liquid inspiration and head on over to Baked in Brooklyn to make yourself something to pour it into!
