Greenpoint Chamber Kicks Off Graffiti Removal

On Friday, March 1st, the Greenpoint Chamber of Commerce launched its graffiti cleanup initiative. Around 25 volunteers from the NYPD, NYPD Auxiliary and the Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design joined Assemblyman Joe Lentol and Chamber members, including Broadway Stage’s Gina and Tony Argento, ExxonMobil’s Kevin Thompson, Red Star’s Eric Hall and Grandma Rose’s John Ricco to begin cleaning long vandalized areas along Lorimer and Banker Streets as well as Meeker Avenue.

After fueling up on pizza and hot dogs, courtesy of Ricco, the volunteers set out for what the first of their weekly cleanups. The initiative, which came at the behest of several Chamber members, was sponsored by Broadway Stages, ExxonMobil and CitiStorage, and is being led by Williamsburg High School for Architecture and Design Assistant Principal Giovanni D’Amato and Greenpoint Youth Court Director Dana Rachlin.
