IS 318 offers the widest array of classes including marching band, chess, guitar, yoga, robotics, cooking, web design, judo, digital film, arts and crafts, visual art, ceramics, dance, drama and journalism.

The school is most famous for its chess team, which has won 29 national championships and will be highlighted in the soon to be released feature film BROOKLYN CASTLE. Another claim to fame is an outstanding music program. The marching band is a great source of fun and performs throughout the city. Both are just two examples of 318’s commitment to provide as many interesting courses and activities to interest every child.

“IS 318 offers a tremendous number of challenging and exciting programs in a safe and nurturing environment,” said Assistant Principal John Galvin. “We always have so many students and parents who seek out our school because of its great reputation in the neighborhood.”
