Town Square’s Summerstarz at McCarren Park: Oldies Night

Town Square’s SummerStarz OLDIES Night started off with a fun storytelling and arts & crafts hour led by the Brooklyn Public Library (www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org) before launching into a classic rock performance by Ed Healy featuring Take 5. Ed Healey is not only the talented leader of this great band; he is also a popular guitar teacher at our very own MS 318! Take 5 mixes sounds of pop, rock, soul, Motown, and reggae and spans nearly 50 years of great music. At sunset, “Back to the Future,” an all time classic featuring a young teen that travels back to 1955 in a DeLorean turned time-machine. It was an awesome time under the summer stars.

Even though it is now past Labor Day, the summer is not yet over for SummerStarz. The popular series has two more evenings planned: this Wednesday (September 3rd) is American Night with NY’s Finest Jazz Ensemble and “Grease” and next Wednesday (September 10th) is Polish Night with the Polish American Folk Dance Company and “Pan Tadeusz.” Come on out and enjoy the last of the summer!
