Mastering the Tee

How many designers does it take to create the perfect tee? At the Renegade Craft Fair this past Sunday in Williamsburg it was a stiff competition. This traveling fair of crafty folks can be spotted in Chicago, Brooklyn, San Francisco, Los Angeles and soon to be Austin. The vendors and participants are all local designers from various cities around the country with only
handmade goods for sale for your buying pleasure.

Strolling through the park in all the handmade goodness, the Greenpoint Gazette decided to snap some pics of the tees that jumped out at us.

The Sharp Shirter: www.sharpshirter.com
Dan Lachman from Maryland is the creative force behind Sharp Shirter. The colorful balance and “sharp” illustrations translate well to his team of graphic designers and artists that bring his t-shirt visions to life. Stand back and watch your outfit turn into a statement without words.

Maryink: www.maryink.com
Mary Helt and Chris Sittel from Nashville came all the way to little ol’ Brooklyn to showcase their nature inspired, soft and flowing screen printed designer tees. A sense of calm comes over you when entering their raw world of effortless feminity. Pair one of their organic cotton designs with a dressy skirt or ripped jeans and you’re good to go.

Thief & Bandit www.theifandbandit.com
From Richmond, Virginia Amie Cunningham made us do a double take as the color and quality of her shirts led us into her booth wanting to see more. Inspired by vintage Navajo patterns and antique knife collections, this designer creates conversation pieces through her t-shirt designs. You can count on Thief & Bandit for a piece unlike anything else you have in your
wardrobe. The list continues as we ran laps around McCarren Park deciding whose tees were Greenpoint Gazette worthy. Since we loved them all, here’s a few more we adored that made the GG’s “Master Tee” list:

Gnome Enterprises, Brooklyn, NY: www.gnomeenterprises.net

Pinecone + Chickadee, Maine: www.pineconeandchickadee.com

Handsome Howard, Brooklyn, NY: www.handsomehoward.com

Intl. Robot, www.dylanS.etsy.com

Until next year, we anxiously await the new group of emerging designers and artists that will
outfit Brooklyn in 2011. Are you a super famous local designer? Go to
www.greenpointnews.com and email us with pictures so we can see your glorious creations.
We’ll feature you in the GG and make your mama proud.
