Call to Artists: Expanded Nuit Blanche to Return this October

On October 6th, Bring to Light: Nuit Blanche New York (NBNY) will illuminate the Greenpoint waterfront for the third time. The festival, which has drawn approximately 25,000 people to the neighborhood the past two years, is expanding this year, and organizers are calling on artists to help determine how and where the festival will grow.

From now until Friday, July 13th artists are invited to propose a specific location for video/film projections, installations and other interac¬tive environments to help transform the waterfront into an enormous public art project. Possible sites, which are available on the NBNY website at http://bringtolightnyc.org/BringtoLight2012_RFP.pdf, include most of the waterfront between India and Oak Streets and the potential for a water-based installation. Many of the proposed locations still require final approval from neighborhood partners.

NBNY grew out of the Paris-based “Nuit Blanche” and is now one of a network of locally organized nighttime events in dozens of cities that draws millions of viewers. The free contemporary art event features installations of light, sound, and projection by artists from New York and around the world.

Informational sessions and group tours of the potential sites will be held on Thursday, June 28th, from 6:30-8:30pm and Sunday, July 1st, from 3-5pm. For more details and to RSVP for tours, email info@bringtolightnyc.org.
