The Newman Sandwich

The Newman Sandwich and The Jones Sandwich (vegetarian) by Lunchbox BK

Less than two years old, Lunchbox BK has established itself as a neighborhood staple. The spot combines the best aspects of an old-school deli with a fresh, hip aesthetic. Visitors can select from a wide array of heros overflowing with meats and cheeses, hearty soups, and from full coffee and smoothie bars.

Owned by Antonia and Tommy Chabrowski, Lunchbox BK offers a wide variety of options for vegans, vegetarians and meat-eaters. Their chalkboard menu spans an entire wall and is jam-packed with signature soups and sandwiches. The front of the restaurant feels like a high-end bodega—deli counter, a big display of potato chips and other sandwich companions, a wall of soda-stocked coolers, and a coffee station. But Lunchbox also offers a seating area in the back where you can enjoy your meal with a side of free WiFi.

And the restaurant’s name is not lost in the fray. The Chabrowski’s have lined the perimeter of their quaint deli with lunchboxes of every make and model. Old-school tin lunchboxes bearing illustrations of Snoopy and Rambo stand alongside newer, zipper-sealed lunchbags in the shape of SpongeBob Squarepants. Antonia said she bought a ton of the lunchboxes on eBay, while many were also donated by friends and customers.
But the lunchbox collection isn’t really the issue at hand. Lunchbox BK has the stuff that will fill the most important lunchbox of all—your stomach!
