Stop the Presses! BEER WEEK IS HERE!

The 2nd Annual New York Craft Beer Week kicks off this Friday and continues until next Sunday. The week, which is presented in partnership with Zagat Survey and Just Food, features 83 bars, 162 beers, and dozens of events, including beer walks, seminars such as Women in Beer, and bar and restaurant specials. Events and venues span across the five boroughs, and there are plenty of opportunities to partake in Craft Beer Week in the Greenpoint and Williamsburg area.

One of the main features of Beer Week is the NYC Beer Passport, which serves as both a guide and a ticket to special discounts and pricings throughout the week. The Passport costs $35, and gets holders a souvenir glass, pints of featured beer for just $2 at the 83 participating bars, as well as discounts on beer walks and other events.

On September 12, 13 and 19 Urban Oyster will host a 3-hour walking tour, starting with a tour and tasting at Brooklyn Brewery in Williamsburg and ending with food and a German craft beer tasting. The cost is $45 per person. For a cheaper deal, on September 13 and 19, tour guide Matt Levy will take cyclists on a twelve mile Bike Brooklyn Beer Blitz through Williamsburg and Bushwick, exploring German brewhouses of the late 19th century, having a few drinks along the way, and ending at Evergreen Cemetery. The cost is $20 plus the price of drinks.

Several bars around the neighborhood will also be hosting events. In Williamsburg, The Gibson in will host a Saturday afternoon BBQ on the 12th, as well as a talk with Geoff Wenzel from Keegan Ales. Barcade will be hosting several events during the week, featuring brewers from Harpoon, Fisherman’s, Geary’s, Troegs, and Coney Island/ He’Brew. D.b.a. Williamsburg will feature beer as its Liquid of Interest on Monday night, while on Tuesday South 4th Bar and Café will host A Night Of Delicious Beer with Ithaca Beer Co, Keegan Ales, and Captain Lawrence.

In Greenpoint, The Diamond will host Brew N’ Chew on the 13th, where teams will create homebrew and snack pairings for patrons. Proceeds will go to Barc Animal Shelter. Brouwerij Lane will host several nights throughout the week, with unlimited 4oz tastings for $10 or $1 per taste, and featuring representatives from Keegan Ales, Victoria Brewing Co., Southern Tier Brewing Co., Stone Brewing Co., and an Octoberfest Tasting. The Habitat will have beer and snack specials on September 17th and 18th.

In addition to the events and specials at those bars, Bar Matchless, Black Rabbit, CoCo 66, t.b.d., The Mark Bar, The River Barrel, and Van Gough’s Radio Lounge in Greenpoint, and Mugs Alehouse, and The Gutter in Williamsburg will also be having drink specials throughout the week.
