LP & Harmony

Some bars are built to create a certain vibe, acquire a certain clientele while others simply wish to exist as location where individuals can happily gather for a good time and good drinks. LP & Harmony is the latter. Since its opening in September of 2010, the former owner of Artland Bar has cultivated this space to be a comforting neighborhood bar. The front is made up of two large windows that entice those walking by with two full pool tables and behind that a well stocked bar. Once I had entered, and passed the girthy group of friendly and imbibed pool players, I found my way to the long snake-like bar that, a la its namesake, was decorated in vinyl records and tiles. Once rid of my winter layers and with beer in hand, I glanced of the well stocked bar with a variety of spirits, liquors and beers, three HD flat screen televisions, a DJ booth, and behind the pool tables is a wall covered in plaques and trophies.
While the bar is well stocked with spirits and liquors, I would categorize it primarily as a beer/shot or ampersand drink bar, simply because of the fantastically cheap prices. Keeping up with being one of the nice and new neighborhood bars, it offers its patrons free pool play every Monday along with a DJ spinning every night starting at ten. Another feature the bar offers is a well sized back yard with several tables for seating. While it might not serve a greater purpose aside from smokers willing to brave the winter cold, tucked in the corner is a BBQ waiting for the warmer seasons where I foresee the space to be a prime location for day time dwelling.
The bar also belongs to the APA pool league and has league nights on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from approximately 7pm till midnight, so non-league players might have to wait awhile to get onto a table.
All in all, this is a friendly bar with a friendly staff and offers a comfortable and unpretentious environment to gather with friends, imbibe oneself and grab a game of pool.
