Sumi-e Workshop

In this workshop we will learn the principles and techniques of the ancient tradition of Sumi-e Painting.Sumi-e is a Japanese term meaning “ink painting”. It was imported from China around the 7th century A.D. by Japanese scholars seeking a cultural exchange. For this workshop, no previous experience is necessary with painting, drawing or with Sumi-e. We will concentrate on four basic brushstrokes and see how the four brushstrokes are connected with the four seasons. Come prepared to create images of nature in a relaxed environment!
